Net energy ratio in biomass.

Over the last 6 months, there have been many letters to the editor in the Register Guard concerning the use of biofuels and whether or not there is a net energy gain. There is much public ignorance on this issue and many letters are holdovers from the situation 10-15 years ago.

In this assignment you are to write a pointed (600-800 word) Letter to the Editor on the issue of net energy gain in biofuels. Your task is to present a convicing and supportable argument about whether there is a net energy gain or net energy loss in the production of biofuels.

You are also all invited to actually send your letter into the RG, should you be so inclined.
