Do some independent research on the following topic and write a 1000-1200 word essay on your choice.

Personal Rapid Transportation (PRT).

There are currently many visions out there for a PRT system (see some examples in the lecture page on this subject).

Your essay should include two main points:

• Find and document what you consider a good current working PRT system in a large urban area (you will probably have to look to Europe for this) and address
  • Its overall transport factor (e.g. how many people use it)
  • Why its successful
  • Can this particular transport system be scaled to have a much larger impact?

• Determine which particular "futuristic" transport system do you believe that the United States should invest in now. Describe some of the components of that system, how it functions, and how people would use it. You can include graphics/images in an appendix to help illustrate your case.
