Course Goals:

  • To give students a greater appreciation for the role that randomness in terms of the occurrence of natural hazards plays in determining the overall evolution of culture.

  • To better show how historical events with multiple interpretations can be better focussed using a scientific lens.

  • To provide students with better experience on risk assessment.

  • To demonstrate the culture resilency dominates over cultural extinction most all of the time.

  • To examine the current problem of global climate change in this general filter of random natural hazards and evolution of culture.
